Cheng Fei Transitioning from Athlete to Coach
According to this Chinese article, Cheng Fei is currently coaching a group of five young athletes on the National Team; two of them from her native Hubei Province. Former Head Coach Lu Shan Zhen was the one who suggested coaching when he saw Cheng Fei idling while recovering from her torn Achilles.
When ask about being a coach, Cheng Fei jokes about how she gets frustrated whenever someone gets stuck on a simple skill and she just wanted to jump on and show them how it’s done. “Being an athlete, one only has to think about his/her own problems, but being a coach is much different, you have think more comprehensively. Before, I was training with the elite gymnasts and have gotten used to the high skill level at that stage. I am adjusting to the young gymnasts at their skill level and their way of thinking”, she smiles, “I just want my gymnasts to do their best at the National Games”.

The path of her future, we will help her along the way. - Coach Lu Shanzhen on Cheng Fei
Former team captain Chen Fei has arrived at the training camp in Wuhan with the rest of the national team. Still recovering from her injury earlier this year, Cheng Fei was spotted coaching young gymnasts at the training camp. When interviewed on future plan for his beloved disciple Cheng Fei, Coach Lu Shanzhen says it all depends on the Cheng Fei’s wishes.
“Although she’s almost recovered from her injuries, she still needs some time before she’s able to withstand the large impact of training” said Coach Lu Shanzhen, “while she’s still recovering, we do not want to neglect her time with gymnastics, so she is helping out on coaching the young gymnasts while sidelined during this time”. He continues, “although she is the Olympic champion, she’s only 24 years old just like the average person; she still has more to learn, whether professionally or culturally. I hope she will be able to continue her education that will help develop her for a greater future. But of course, we‘ll respect her decisions; if she’s not willing to leave gymnastics, she can always come back, and we‘ll welcome her with open arms”.

If Only Li-Ning Made the White Versions
I so want to see white versions of the leos our girls wore in Tokyo/2011 and Athens/2004. Too bad it’s only possible via photoshop >_<
Li-Ning first introduced the red/white theme in 1992, it took them a whole 20 years to get back to this theme! What took them so long?!
